Honda rolled out its and world’s first zero-emission, hydrogen fuel cell carFCX Clarity”. Fuel cell vehicles (FCX Clarity) is seen as the long term alternative to the conventional cars since they run on inexhaustible and cheaper source of fuel, hydrogen & electricity and emits only water & vapour and nothing else (sounds positive on Global warming) .
In fuel cells, chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen takes place and generates the energy (lithium ion battery provides supplementary power) .
This 3600 pound vehicle can reach the top speed of 100 miles per hour and can run 385 miles, on single fuelling.
In U.S. (starting from California), FCX Clarity will be available from July via Fuel Cell Vehicle Dealership network on a three year lease of $600 a month. In Japan, sales are expected to start this autumn.
Although Honda has already received 50,000 applications through their Car is considered to be delivered to those living near Torrance, Santa Monica and Irvine, due to its single limiting factor, small number of hydrogen fuel stations, however hydrogen is the most abundant element available and its combination with zero emission can redefine the future motoring.
